The brief sounded simple: an apartment to live in all year and host friends in summer, without the feel of a holiday rental. The original layout split the sea view between three small rooms.

I joined the kitchen, dining and living areas into one space along the windows and removed the corridor; a walk-in wardrobe and a laundry took its place. The bedroom gained its own bathroom, and the study converts into a guest room when needed.

The base is lime plaster in a warm white, oak parquet, and travertine in the kitchen and bathrooms. Green appears in measured doses: the wall behind the headboard, the armchair upholstery, the shower tiles. Lighting works on three levels — concealed strips, wall lights and lamps wherever someone reads — and barely relies on ceiling spots.

The apartment now feels calm by day and by night, and the sea remains the main event in every shared room.
